Ed O'Brien is attending a GIS Conference in Ct today. One item up for discussion is the Connecticut Board of Examiners for PE and PLS Declaratory Ruling regarding maps and plans in a digital format. http://RISPLS.Org/forum/uploads/GIS/CT/Delcaratory%20Ruling%20on%20Digital%20Files.pdf - Click Here . Prior to this the Board published the Statement Concerning GIS http://rispls.org/forum/uploads/GIS/CT/Statement%20Concerning%20GIS.pdf - Click Here .

This approach is in contrast to the Massachusetts GIS guideline http://rispls.org/forum/uploads/GIS/MA/DigPlanStandard_V2.pdf - Click Here and http://rispls.org/forum/uploads/GIS/MA/Appendix_C.pdf  - Here

Maybe Ed can follow up here with a quick synopsis of his meeting

Thanks Ed! Thumbs Up

The short answer is Connecticut has a Communication Breakdown between the Surveyors and the GIS Practitioners.

I will gather a few more thoughts on this subject– I would not be surprised if Connecticut goes fast track and adopts legislation similar to the South Carolina Tier Licensure.

It is going to get interesting that is for sure.
